Soundproofing options for internal walls

Noise travelling through your walls?

Hearing voices, TV or everyday noise through your walls? Tell us what you can hear and where it is coming from. We assess the existing wall and discuss soundproofing options suited to your home and the space available.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • You can hear next door’s conversations or TV through the wall.
  • Noise from another room interrupts your sleep.
  • You want more privacy when working from home.
  • You’re renovating and want to discuss soundproofing before decorating.

Tell us what you can hear, which rooms are affected and when it bothers you most.

We’ll discuss your existing walls, the space available and what you want to improve before recommending the next step.

Soundproofing your existing walls

The right approach depends on what your wall is made from, the noise you can hear and how much room you can spare.

Soundstop offers options for solid walls and stud partitions, including slim wall linings and separate stud wall systems. We’ll discuss which approach suits your home before agreeing the work.

Sound can also travel through adjoining walls, floors and ceilings. We consider these routes too, because treating one wall may only address part of the problem.

Choosing a system that fits your room

Soundproofing adds depth to a wall, so the space available matters. A slimmer lining takes up less room, while a deeper system may offer better noise reduction, depending on the wall and the type of sound.

We’ll explain the proposed wall thickness and discuss any changes needed around sockets, skirting boards and radiators before work starts.

The aim is to find a practical balance between reducing noise and keeping your room usable.

What improvement can you expect?

The aim is to reduce the noise disturbing you and make your room more comfortable. The result depends on the existing construction, the system fitted and any other routes the sound can take.

Before work starts, we’ll discuss what the proposed system is designed to address and its limitations, using Soundstop’s guidance for that system.

We won’t promise complete silence. We want you to understand what you’re choosing before committing to the work.

How to get started

  1. Tell us about the noise. Include your location, which rooms are affected and what you can hear. Photos of the walls and rough measurements help too.
  2. Talk through the options. We review your details and arrange a visit where needed to check the existing construction and space available.
  3. Get a clear quote. We set out the preparation, proposed soundproofing system and finish, including what is covered, before booking the work.

Not sure where to start? Send us what you have, or get in touch by phone or WhatsApp and we’ll talk it through.
